There is a need for a Bill to ensure that people on the autistic spectrum are diagnosed at an early stage in their lives and a prompt and  thorough assessment is made of their needs and services that will support them and their carers.  People should receive services in the the language of their choice – Welsh or English and translation services if neither English or Welsh are their first language.

I am so pleased to see that legislation will be in place to raise awareness, provide diagnoses, assessments and services for people with autism.

I feel that the education system -school is key in a child being diagnosed and assessed at the earliest possible stage and this is crucial for a pathway for the educational provision and services provided into adult hood. I feel that more enthesis need to be placed on the role of the educational system in the Bill so their duties are clearly spelt out and placed in legislation.
